this tribe was started to bolster support for the observance of "inauguration Day" (Thursday, January 20th, 2005) as "Not One Damn Dime Day" to protest the fixed elections of 2004 and the war in Iraq. On this day, people spoke up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending.

Since then, efforts to form a total economic boycott have been discussed, but little effort towards such a monumental undertaking has been made. Some of us have succeeded in skirting various aspects of the economic system for long periods, but most of us still burn gas, collect food stamps, punch clock, and/or work under the table. As urban creatures surrounded by dollars, status, and barren concrete markets, how do we refuse to participate in the homicidal u.s. economy?

The goals of this tribe are: 1. to form networking groups and community economies that will eventually sustain themselves autonomously from the old socioeconomic order and 2. to network these groups with existing off-the grid groups. Please post free or cheap ways to do, learn, & get stuff, local sustainable business interests, strategies for getting off the grid, and ideas regarding the formation of new economic systems.
